Job title: Night Shift CNC Machinist
Location: Letchworth, Hertfordshire
Terms: Permanent (Full-time)
Salary/rate: Hourly (Competitive) + night shift allowance (x1.33). Including 25 Days paid holiday + bank holidays
Working Hours: 40-hour week, Monday – Thursday (17:00pm – 03:00am). Overtime readily available.

About us:
Stevenage sheet metal manufactures high quality engineered parts to a variety of industries from pharmaceutical through to automotive. SSM has 45 years of experience within manufacturing and specialises in sheet metal forming and fabrication. Stevenage Sheet Metal has recently opened a new CNC machining facility to compliment the fabrication.

About the role:
Responsible for operating our brand new Hurco TMX8MYi VDI Turret lathe and Hurco VMX42Ti mill. We are looking to continue to grow and expand our machining service with future planned machine purchases.

Responsibilities:

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Programming Hurco CNC lathe & Mill using Hurco MAX 5 controls
• Loading and setting machines accordingly to maximise production output
• Ensure all jobs are complete on time and to the desired quality
• Measure parts to ensure they are within specification
• Maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures
• Maintaining equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements

Candidate requirements:

• High attention to detail – work to tight dimensional tolerances
• Has previous experience using Hurco MAX 5 Controls
• 5 years + programming, setting and operating CNC lathes & Mills
• Self-motivated and driven
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Able to work independently without daily supervision
