Delivery Driver

Job title: Delivery Driver
Location: Letchworth, Hertfordshire
Terms: Permanent (Full-time)
Salary/rate: Hourly (Competitive) including 25 Days paid holiday + bank holidays
Requirements: 40-hour week, Monday – Friday (8:00am – 4:30pm)

About us:
Stevenage sheet metal manufactures high quality engineered parts to a variety of industries from pharmaceutical through to automotive. SSM has 45 years of experience within manufacturing and specialises in sheet metal forming and fabrication.

About the role:
The Delivery driver role is a dual role with the primary role being able to safely deliver goods to our customers on time. The secondary responsibilities involve supporting with stores function and carefully packaging items to specification.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeping vehicles in good condition
  • Performing daily checks according to Company checklist (damage, oil and water levels etc.)
  • Packaging and preparing goods for despatch, counting, checking conditions and labelling of goods
  • Safe loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Review delivery schedule and plan an efficient route to customers
  • Delivering items to Customers and occasionally Suppliers
  • Driving van in a safe manner, following all the traffic rules
  • Ensuring signatures are on the delivery notes and informing manager of successful delivery

Candidate requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence with no points
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Have good geographical knowledge and understanding of routes
  • Have awareness of safety procedures for goods loading and unloading
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management
